Em-Media, Inc. Gets a New Home, The Em-Media Center, for the New Year

The Ohio Valley’s leading advertising agency, Em-Media, Inc. began the new year
in a new home, the Em-Media Center.  Previously located on White Oaks Drive, Em-Media, Inc. relocated to 2728 Sunset Blvd., the former home of the Steubenville Woman’s Club.  The 7,000 square foot building located on nearly an acre of ground was auctioned off in September of ‘09 and then acquired by James Emmerling, owner of Em-Media, Inc. 

I’ve always had the goal of acquiring a professional building for our agency, and with the encouragement of Dave and Tom D’Anniballe, who shared my desire to maintain the history of such a landmark, the dream of the Em-Media Center was realized.  It was a big investment, but the timing was right - our agency is growing.  We’ve added two new employees and 12 clients in the past year,” said Emmerling.

The original building was constructed in 1926 by Samuel Clifford (Cliff) Kerr who later sold the estate to Dr. Albert Weinstein (Winston).  It was passed on to the Steubenville woman’s club in 1962.

Construction to upgrade the Em-Media Center into a state of the art communications facility was underway since its purchase date. “The building has come a long way in three months,” said Emmerling.  “We still have some work to do and have many plans to utilize the space.  It’s a great location for any business.” 

Armando Sinicropi of Cornerstone Remodeling & Building Inc. was hired by Emmerling as the general contractor to tackle the majority of the renovations including: landscape preparation, all new plumbing and wiring, two kitchen and five bathroom renovations, creation of eight office spaces and restoration of the meeting hall.  The hardwood floors, staircase, and French doors were meticulously restored to their original grandeur by Gregg Weber and Bill Weiss of Specialty Masters.  “It’s an awesome feeling to preserve such an eloquent piece of Ohio Valley history!” said Emmerling.

The Em-Media Center houses a 1,800 square foot hall, which was an addition made to the property by the women’s club.  The hall named “Bella Hall” after the Emmerling’s daughter, will be utilized for press conferences, civic meetings and gatherings as well as made available to the public as a rental facility. LeeAnn Emmerling will handle the scheduling of the hall as the Event Coordinator and Treasurer of the Em-Media Center.  “We don’t plan to offer catering, or to acquire a liquor license at this time.  Anyone renting the hall will have the option of choosing their own menu, caterer and supplying the beverages of their choice, which many people prefer to do,” said Emmerling.

WTRF Television of Wheeling/Steubenville leased a space in the new Em-Media Center.  “We are extremely excited to have a bureau in the new Em-Media Center.  Just as the folks at Em-Media have made a huge commitment to the Ohio Valley, we at WTRF-TV, FOX OHIO VALLEY and ABC OHIO VALLEY are certainly committed to better serving our viewers and clients,” said Roger Lyons, Vice President/General Manager of WTRF. A temporary sign sits on the front lawn of the Em-Media Center as new signage is being designed and constructed.  The final design will incorporate a LED digital display, to be used for community, clients, and center information and promotion.
